Alyssa Hawkins
I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA, LBA) with a diverse educational background that spans early childhood intervention (ECI), homebound education and therapy, general education, resource instruction, self-contained autism classrooms, and specialized behavior units. My years in the classroom gave me firsthand experience supporting learners with a wide range of academic, social, and behavioral needs, and shaped my belief that meaningful change happens when we truly understand why behavior occurs.

I learned not only the value of vertical alignment but the difference in a traditional punitive, punishment based system versus a skill-acquisition model based on true, measurable accountability.
As a former teacher, I bring a practical, educator-centered perspective to behavior analysis. I understand the realities of classrooms, schools, and teams, and I focus on strategies that are effective, ethical, and sustainable in real-world educational settings. My work emphasizes collaboration, skill-building, and empowering educators and caregivers with tools they can confidently implement.
In addition to working with humans, I draw heavily from the study of animal behavior—particularly horses—to illustrate how behavior influences learning, communication, and relationships. Horses, like people, respond to their environment, history, and the behavior of others. Through this lens, I help others recognize how consistency, reinforcement, emotional regulation, and clear communication shape outcomes in both education and life.

My passion lies in bridging education, behavior science, and natural learning environments to create compassionate, evidence-based approaches that support growth—for students, educators, and the systems that serve them.

Why Behaviors of Learning?
School-Based Functional Behavior Assessments need to be written by someone who has worked extensively in the education system. Recommendations that can't be implemented in a school setting aren't effective for staff or students.
Home-Based interventions require a different format than school-based systems. Your 4 walls are unique and individual to you. This is where you get to develop executive functioning skills that are not influenced by the group.
We, as humans, are mammals. We share most of the same systems as other members of Kingdom Animalia; therefore, watching, observing, and learning from our furred and feathered friends gives us visual, concrete insight into ourselves.
We are simple, humble, and hardworking people who believe in the power of education, supportive and loving homes, and accountability for the individual, base skills that are combined into the unique behavior of learning.
Layla helped me get to steady 15k months....no more all over the place income! She showed me easy to implement systems that worked with my way of doing things, it all felt so natural and was the missing puzzle piece to my growth. I can NOT recommend her enough!
